The First Note: Soundstage LA

Williams to co-conduct selections, present 'Soundings'

On Oct. 25, the final opening gala for the Disney Concert Hall, Soundstage LA, will present film scores in celebration of the creative heartbeat of Los Angeles.

John Williams will co-conduct selections from the golden era of cinema and present the world premiere of his “Soundings.” The piece will also serve as the building’s signature chimes.

Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones will co-host the evening and will be joined by Steven Spielberg.

Also on the program are performances of classic film songs sung by Audra MacDonald and Josh Groban.

Black-tie affair will evoke old Hollywood with art deco decor, a Joachim Splichal dinner served supper club style, and after-concert dancing to the sounds of the Henry Mancini Big Band.

The evening will conclude with a musically choreographed light and pyrotechnic spectacular showcasing the grandeur of the Disney Concert Hall.
