Writer to contribute news, reviews; McNulty joins Voice
Variety has tapped Frank Rizzo as a theater correspondent for the New England region.
Rizzo, who lives in New Haven, Conn., is an arts writer for the Hartford Courant. He will continue in that capacity while contributing reviews and news stories to Variety and Daily Variety.
A native of Maynard, Mass., Rizzo has been covering the local theater scene since 1973. He has been at the Courant since 1982 and has contributed to other periodicals including American Theater.
In other legit press news, Charles McNulty has been named senior editor for theater at the Village Voice. He will administer the paper’s annual Obie awards for achievement in Off and Off Off Broadway theater.
McNulty, an assistant professor at Brooklyn College and head of the school’s MFA program in dramaturgy and theater criticism, has written for the downtown newspaper since 1992. He also has written for Variety, the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, among other periodicals.
