Nathan Lane will play Dalton Trumbo in a return engagement of the show about the screenwriter and novelist.
“Trumbo,” derived from the blacklisted writer’s letters, is written by Christopher Trumbo (Dalton’s son) and directed by Peter Askin (“Hedwig and the Angry Inch”). It will begin performances Aug. 26 and open Sept. 4 at the Westside Theater on 43rd Street.
Two-time Tony winner Lane will star in the two-hander through Sept. 21. Gordon MacDonald will take the role of the narrator and Christopher Trumbo. The open-ended run will continue, with other performers to be announced.
A spring run of the show at the theater featured performers such as Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins and Richard Dreyfuss performing only on Monday nights.
Current engagement is presented by Claudia Catania and the Westside Theater.
