Carter, Wuhl cut out for Long Wharf’s ‘Paper Doll’

Comedy to run March 5-April 6

SOUTHBURY, Conn. — Broadway and television actress and cabaret singer Dixie Carter and Emmy Award-winning writer-actor-comedian Robert Wuhl have replaced Andrea Martin and F. Murray Abraham as Jacqueline Susann and her husband in “Paper Doll” at New Haven’s Long Wharf Theater.

Martin and Abraham have both left the production due to “scheduling conflicts.” Mark Hampton and Barbara J. Zitwer’s biographical comedy is scheduled to run March 5-April 6.

Directed by Leonard Foglia, “Paper Doll” also will feature Joanne Genelle and Adrian Rieder in its LWT cast.

Play was first seen at the Pittsburgh Public Theater in 2001 with Marlo Thomas and Abraham in its leading roles, then with them at Duke U. a year ago.

Legiter is being presented at the LWT by special arrangement with New York producer Randall L. Wreghitt in association with Montauk Highway.

The play delves into the public and private life of “Valley of the Dolls” author Susann, who was also an actress; her husband, Irving Mansfield, who was also her manager; and her beloved black poodle Josephine.
