B.O. rises; ‘Egg’ 241g

Broadway numbers sprung forward in Week 45 (April 7-13), rising 7% to $13,229,912.

Gain of $874,348 was helped along by strength of “Salome” and “Life (x) 3.” First week of previews for “Salome” earned $176,094. “Life (x) 3” brought in $357,896, up $68,701 from previous sesh. Roundabout revival of “A Day in the Death of Joe Egg” was also up $40,089, finishing the week with $241,916.

Kiddie tuner “A Year with Frog and Toad” took in $88,838 its first week on the boards.

Attendance was up 8.8%, finishing with 210,276.

The 22 musicals grossed $11,605,072, for 87.7% of Broadway total. Attendance of 175,632 was 73% of capacity.

Nine plays earned $1,624,840 for 12.3% of the total. Attendance of 36,664 was 63.4% of capacity.

Average ticket prices were $66.08 for musicals and $44.34 for plays.

Road:

Road total picked up in Week 46 (April 7-13) with a 2.5% uptick from previous week.

With 17 shows on the road, “The Lion King” in Cincinnati reported strongest numbers. Show took in $1,182,912 in its fourth week.

“Mamma Mia” tours in Boston and New Orleans also performed well. In Boston, show earned $860,520, a slight gain from week previous. In New Orleans, week two of the tour took in $739,745.
