NEW YORK — Stage Holding and CIE Group have launched joint venture CIE & Stage Holding. The two entertainment companies will merge their efforts to develop the musical-stage market in Spain.
CIE & Stage Holding will run three theaters in Madrid: the Lope de Vega, Alcala and Coliseum Theater. “Phantom of the Opera” continues at the Lope de Vega Theater and a new Spanish production of “Cabaret” will open in October at the Alcala. Plans for a new production at the Coliseum will be announced in the near future.
Six years ago, the Mexican-based Corporacion Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE) began presenting musical productions in Spain through its Spanish sister company.
Staging Holding, founded by Joop van den Ende, owns and runs 16 live venues in Europe. As for the strength of the new partnership, van den Ende pointed to CIE’s knowledge of the Spanish theater market and Stage Holding’s extensive portfolio of licenses on musical titles.
