Wellspring bites ‘Gator’

Doc explores skateboard culture thru skater Rogowski

Wellspring has picked up foreign rights to skater documentary “Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator.”

Directed by Helen Stickler, doc explores 1980s skateboard culture through the rise and fall of pro-skater Mark “Gator” Rogowski, who went from pinup boy to convict. After his career ended, Rogowski murdered a girl and is currently serving 31 years to life.

Deal gives Wellspring worldwide rights excluding the U.S., Canada and Caribbean. Domestically, “Stoked” was distributed by Palm Pictures, which released it last summer. Thus far, doc has grossed $130,000.
