Tax cut ends Mumbai exhib strike

Mumbai’s single-screen exhibitors have called off their 3-day-old strike after the government of the state of Maharashtra cut the entertainment tax to 45%.

Maharashtra and its capital Mumbai, home of the Bollywood film industry, have the highest entertainment tax in India.

The strike ended just before the Hindu holiday of Diwali, traditionally a time when Bollywood releases pics.
