Gallic thesp Samy Naceri, star of the “Taxi” pic trilogy famous for car chases, could lose his license for two years after being charged with reckless driving and violence.
He also faces a suspended eight-month prison sentence and e4,000 ($4,687) fine for a high-speed chase through Paris in 2000. He forced the other car to stop and beat up a passenger, whom he believed to be a paparazzi. Naceri told the court Monday that he regretted the incident.
“Taxi 3,” which bowed in January, caused a furor for allegedly inciting people to drive irresponsibly. Producer Luc Besson re-sponded by saying that “the millions of spectators who see ‘Taxi 3’ are not going to drive like Samy Naceri on their way home.”
Naceri’s sentence will be handed down June 16.
