Uruguayan helmer-scribes Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll, whose first feature “25 Watts” took a Tiger at the 2001 Rotterdam Intl. Film Festival, have started shooting their second pic “Whisky” based on a script that won a Sundance/NHK Intl. Filmmakers award in 2002.
Uruguay’s Control Zeta Films and Argentina’s Rizoma Films are producing the $530,000 project with backing from Spain’s Canal Plus and Wanda Vision, Japan’s NHK, Germany’s Pandora and France’s Cine Sud.
“Whisky” is about the rivalry between a 60-year-old factory owner and his successful brother.
Starring Andres Pazos and Jorge Bolan, the film is due for release in January.
