Fifer script depicts alternate reality romantic comedy

Neal Moritz has teamed with Mark Williams and Michael Pierce to set up romantic comedy “Overcommitted” at New Line Cinema.

Written by Scott Fifer, script concerns a marriage-phobic man who backs out of a long-term relationship and finds himself landing in alternate realities, married to different women.

New Line senior VP Stokely Chaffin oversees the project.

Williams produced “The Cooler,” starring William H. Macy. Pic premiered last month in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, where Lions Gate Films acquired it.

Pierce produced and Williams exec produced the upcoming “U-Boat,” currently in post. Also starring Macy, it will be released Stateside by Artisan Entertainment, with foreign handled by Splendid.

Moritz is currently producing “2 Fast 2 Furious” and “S.W.A.T.,” both for release this year.
