Phoenix reels in ‘Trout’ deal

Nixey novel to be adapted by Cosby

Phoenix Pictures has acquired feature rights to Troy Nixey’s graphic novel “Trout,” with Andrew Cosby, co-creator of UPN’s “Haunted,” onboard to pen the script.

“Trout,” which was first published by Dark Horse Presents, is the story of a young boy whose nightmare escapes from his dream. The kid must join forces with a nightmare hunter to catch the monster before it brings everyone’s worst nightmares to life.

Cosby and Ross Richie, who are repped by Paradigm, will serve as co-exec producers. They are also producing “Mage” for Spyglass Entertainment.

Phoenix VP of production Brad Fischer brought in the project and will oversee it with director of development David Thwaites.
