Perelman’s true believer in ‘Talisman’

Kruger to adapt King novel for 'Fog' helmer

Vadim Perelman, who will make his directorial debut with DreamWorks’ upcoming “The House of Sand and Fog,” will reteam with the studio on his next pic, “The Talisman,” a Universal co-production produced by Kennedy-Marshall.

“The Talisman” is an adaptation of the 1984 Stephen King/Peter Straub novel that Kennedy-Marshall had originally intended to produce as a miniseries.

In “The Talisman,” a 12-year-old boy goes on a quest in this world and in a parallel universe to acquire a mystical talisman that will save the life of his dying mother.

Ehren Kruger (“The Ring”) adapted the screenplay. Although the pic is in pre-production, no start date is yet set.

DreamWorks production head Michael De Luca oversees the project. Kathleen Kennedy will produce, with Steven Spielberg as executive producer.

DreamWorks will handle domestic distribution on the project, while U takes international.
