Action helmer Woo to produce CGI pic

Paramount Pictures has tapped Maurice Chauvet and Christopher Vail to pen the script for the all-CGI version of “Mighty Mouse” for Nickelodeon Films.

Studio has closed a deal with the duo for the project, seen as an action-comedy-adventure. Chauvet’s credits include co-writing Sony Classics’ gambling addiction drama “Owning Mahowny” with helmer Richard Kwietniowski and spec “The Bride Wore Black” for 20th Century Fox.

“Mighty Mouse” producers will be action helmer John Woo and producing partner Terence Chang, along with Nick Film execs Albie Hecht and Julia Pistor. Barry Jackson will provide concept design work with Nick performing the animation work inhouse.

Nick’s top animated performers have been “The Rugrats Movie” and “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” which posted domestic grosses of $101 million and $81 million, respectively.
