Par Classics eyes ‘Dare’

Shingle chases distrib'n of French helmer's debut

Paramount Classics is in final negotiations to acquire North American distribution rights and selected international territories to French director Yann Samuell’s debut feature “Love Me If You Dare” (Jeux d’Enfants), which just screened at the Telluride Film Festival.

Pic stars Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard in a dark, quirky love story that follows the fortunes of a couple of lifelong friends whose longstanding game of dare gets in the way of their blossoming love for one another. Pic will also screen at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, which opened Thursday.

“Dare” was written and directed by Samuell and produced by Christophe Rossignon, and is being sold internationally by Films Distribution. It opens in France on Sept. 17 via Mars Distribution.
