HOLLYWOOD — Newmark Entertainment will distribute “The Tin Angel,” an unconventional look at the underbelly of the low-budget action film industry.
The film’s $3 million budget is backed by private equity and matching services from Belarus Film Studio. Newmark also holds worldwide rights.
Pic stars Billy Drago, who co-wrote the screenplay with Francis Delia. Drago also serves as director and producer. Silvia Gallardo and Eva Chonia exec produce. Production begins next week in the former Soviet republic of Belarus.
Newmark Entertainment is the distribution division of Newmark Communications, the media-buying arm for clients such as Universal Music, BMG, EMI, New Line Cinema and AOL Time Warner.
In addition to acting as a rent-a-system distributor, Newmark provides filmmakers with media planning and placement discounts and negotiates international and homevideo rights.
Newmark Communications is owned by president Philip Newmark. Distributor Newmark Entertainment is headed by exec VP Daniel Fantz.
