Veep to create o'seas marketing strategies for pix
HOLLYWOOD — Scott Neeson, who ankled last month as the prexy of 20th Century Fox’s international theatrical division, has landed at Sony as senior exec VP for marketing at Columbia TriStar Film Distributors Intl. (Daily Variety, July 28).
He reports to Geoffrey Ammer, worldwide marketing prexy for Columbia TriStar, and will work alongside Mark Zucker, who holds a senior exec VP title in distribution.
After he starts the new job on Sept. 8, Neeson will draw up overseas marketing strategies for Col and Revolution releases including “Spider-Man 2,” “Bad Boys 2,” “Hellboy” and “Peter Pan.” Nigel Clark, currently an exec VP for international marketing at the Col TriStar foreign distrib unit, is expected to leave later this year.
Announcing the hire, Ammer said, “As a global market strategist, Scott is second to no one and he is the perfect choice to be a member of this team. Scott was instrumental in launching four of the industry’s top five international box office hits, and his track record speaks for itself.”
Among the pics Neeson handled while at Fox were “Titanic,” “Braveheart,” “Die Another Day” and “Ice Age.”
