Parry to help develop, produce movies
HOLLYWOOD — MTV has upped Heather Parry to vice prexy of MTV News and Films.
In the position, Parry will help develop and produce movies for MTV Films as well as oversee the music net’s development projects, including series and specials. She will report to exec VP of MTV News and Production Dave Sirulnick and exec VP of MTV Films David Gale.
“Heather has an amazing ability to take each project she has worked on to a new creative level,” Sirulnick said. “She’s captured a creative, innovative voice for the news division and her strong connection with our audience will help the channel continue to grow and evolve.”
Santa Monica-based Parry will continue to be responsible for the channel’s regular series “Movie House,” “The MTV Movie Awards Pre-Show” and breaking news events from the West Coast.
Parry previously served as Los Angeles bureau chief for the cabler’s news and development arm. She joined MTV 10 years ago as a segment producer. During her tenure, she’s packaged coverage of the Snoop Dogg murder trial and produced programming from the Sundance film fest, the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes.
