MONTREAL — The Montreal World Film Festival will pay tribute to Martin Scorsese, festival prexy Serge Losique said Tuesday.
The helmer, in Montreal shooting “The Aviator” with Leonardo DiCaprio, will be at the 27th edition to talk about his work.
The fest will screen four Scorsese films and four chosen by the helmer that have influenced his work.
“We will be privileged by Mr. Scorsese’s presence,” said Losique. “Not only is he the greatest American filmmaker of his generation, he belongs, in my opinion, in the pantheon of the seventh art’s most imaginative authors, along with Kurosawa, Welles, Bergman and Fellini. Mr. Scorsese also deserves to be revered for his assiduous work in conserving our cinematic heritage.”
The Montreal World Film Festival takes place Aug. 27 to Sept. 7
