Emmett/Furla reups o'seas distrib pact
This article was corrected on Feb. 27, 2003.Randall Emmett and George Furla’s Emmett/Furla Films has reupped its nonexclusive international distribution arrangement with Millennium Films for an additional 10 pictures. Emmett/Furla is in pre-production on the last title under its previous Millennium deal, “Belly of the Beast,” starring and produced by Steven Seagal. Emmett and Furla exec produce with Millennium’s Danny Dimbort, Avi Lerner and Trevor Short. Phillip Goldfine is co-executive producer. Emmett/Furla produces seven to nine pictures per year. This includes equity-financed titles that fall outside the Millennium deal. ‘Narc’ among titles Among the equity titles backed by Emmett/Furla is “Narc,” which Paramount Pictures released early this year. Written and directed by Joe Carnahan, “Narc” has been nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards. Emmett and Furla also served as executive producers on “Half Past Dead,” also starring Seagal, which was released through Screen Gems Pictures in November 2001. Emmett/Furla is now in post on the Val Kilmer starrer “Blind Horizon,” which was produced under the Millennium deal, and the Lions Gate Films-financed “Wonderland,” which also stars Kilmer along with Josh Lucas and Kate Bosworth.
