Awards breakfast to unspool at Space Needle
SEATTLE — There’s still plenty ahead at the Seattle Intl. Film Festival, before its 25-day run is up on Sunday.Along with the 30 or so preems unspooling in the final week of the event and Friday’s panel-and-audience discussion of Michael Winterbottom’s new “In This World,” set in Afghanistan and England, and the closing-night gala with “Jet Lag,” starring Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno, there is a final weekend of forums and informal industry chats. Skedded for Thursday is a music scoring master class with Mychael Danna, known for “Antwone Fisher” and many of Atom Egoyan’s flicks. Saturday brings a visit with “Lovely and Amazing” director Nicole Holofcener, an IFP-sponsored introduction to how sets work and a pitching session hosted by MGM’s Stephanie Palmer and veteran producer Stephen Simon. The fest’s juried prizes, the Golden Space Needle Awards will be handed out at a Sunday breakfast party at (where else?) the Space Needle.
