‘Khushi’ banned in India

World Brief

Dharma Production’s epic love story blockbuster “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (Sometimes Happy, Sometimes Sad) was banned Thursday by the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state, for defaming India’s national anthem.

Producer Karan Johar edited out the anthem scene when the epic love story was released in Dec. 2001, after widespread criticism but it was subsequently reintroduced. The rights of the film have been sold to Sony Entertainment and their Indian Television arm.
