German post-prod co. buys sound unit stake

COLOGNE — Post-production unit Pictorion Das Werk is expanding its core activities by taking a two-thirds stake in Ruhr Sounds Studios.

Under insolvency, Das Werk’s subsids have been sold off, with its former film production unit Road Movies now under Wim Wenders’ newly established Reverse Angle Prods. Its four main post studios were picked up in May by Cologne-based Media Select, which changed its name to Pictorion Das Werk.

Ruhr has been involved in productions by Hans Christian Schmidt and Aki Kaurismaki and handled sound for upcoming Sonke Wortmann soccer drama “Das Wunder von Bern.”
