HOLLYWOOD — Continuing its momentum in bringing major Hollywood films to Imax theaters, Imax Corp. announced that it has extended its agreement with Creative Artists Agency.
Percentery will continue to represent the company in securing high-profile films to be digitally re-mastered for day-and-date release to the worldwide Imax theater network. Agency will also continue to proselytize Hollywood talent to participate in the production of Imax original films.
Initially retained in March 2002, CAA has been instrumental in helping Imax secure a number of projects, including “Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones — The Imax Experience,” which ran in Imax theatres last fall, and the second and third chapters of the “Matrix” trilogy for release in Imax theaters in June and November.
Greg Foster, prexy of filmed entertainment at Imax Corporation, called CAA “an excellent partner” in its efforts to expand its relationships in Hollywood, adding that the company’s goal was to “bring more Imax digitally re-mastered event films for release to the Imax theater network simultaneously with the domestic 35mm release.” Foster said Imax wants to become “a new release window for upcoming Hollywood event films.”
Indeed, of Imax’s most recently announced Imax remastered film projects, “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions,” the latter marks the first time ever that a Hollywood live-action event film will be released “day-and-date” in both 35mm and Imax format. It bows November.
