‘Helsing’ move on from Czech Republic

World Brief

Universal’s monster-hunter adventure romance “Van Helsing” wrapped 11 weeks of shooting in the Czech Republic last week.

F/x-heavy film is heading to L.A. to finish shooting.

“Mummy” helmer Stephen Sommers directs, with Hugh Jackman in the title role and Kate Beckinsale and Richard Roxbrough co-starring. Film, said to be Hollywood’s biggest-budget picture of the year, shot at Barrandov and Prague Studios as well as on location.

This year is shaping up to be a record-breaker for Prague’s film service industry. Young Hitler miniseries “The Origins of Evil,” starring Robert Carlyle, for Alliance Atlantis, wrapped a month ago. Sony’s comicbook-based “Hell Boy” is four weeks into a 20-week shoot.
