HOLLYWOOD — Eddie Griffin will provide the voice of Babe the Blue Ox for the live-action/CG-animated feature “Paul Bunyan.”
Venice, Calif.-based Exodus Film Group will co-finance and co-produce the pic with Masque Entertainment. “Paul Bunyan” has a budget of $10 million.
Written by Michael Nickles and Julia Wall, pic is based on the folklore behind Minnesota’s giant lumberjack and his faithful ox.
Exodus and Masque have split the financing 50-50, with Exodus bringing in private equity and Masque utilizing a production fund that stems from an agreement with Florida Studios of South Florida.
Producers on the film are Exodus principal John D. Eraklis, Tarquin Gotch and Masque principal Steve Perry.
Gotch was an executive producer on “Home Alone,” while Perry exec produced “Lethal Weapon 4.”
Exodus’ inhouse digital visual f/x studio ElectroAge will oversee the animation.
Griffin next will be seen in Miramax Films’ “My Baby’s Mama.”
