Helmer Peter Gothar took the main prize for his powerful “Hungarian Beauty,” a saga of urban life, at the Hungarian Film Szemle Festival, which wrapped in Budapest on Tuesday.

“Libiomfi” thesp Zoltan Mucsi took actor honors, and Eszter Onodi won actress for “Happy Birthday,” about a disenchanted 30-year-old who tries to change in a single day.

The 34th fest opened Jan. 28 with 22 features in competition.

During the fest, Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy promised to increase state sponsorship of the cash-strapped cinema industry to $40 million over the next four years
