Twentieth Century Fox has picked up “My Velouria” from tyro scribe Marc Wolff for low- against mid-six figures.
The action thriller, which blends the police procedural and kung-fu genres, also marks the first spec sold to Fox VP of production Peter Kang since the exec departed Fox 2000 Pictures for 20th Century Fox two weeks ago with many of his projects in tow.
Wolff, a 27-year-old Illinois native who moved West three years ago, said he decided to write his first spec in the action genre because films like “Lethal Weapon” and “Alien” were among those that influenced him most.
Indeed, plot of “My Velouria” is equal parts “Lethal Weapon” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” following two FBI agents investigating the death of an adult film star. Along the way, the pair discovers the murder is far from conventional, as it is the handiwork of a sect of 2,000-year-old vampires.
Scribe was repped in the deal by UTA and Benderspink.
