HONG KONG — Golden Scene, which distributes overseas independent films in Hong Kong, is handling foreign sales for two local directors for the first time.
Golden Scene is selling Andrew Lau’s “The Park,” a $2 million ghost story starring Bobo Chan and Tiffany Lee. The film will feature two segments in 3D and will be released locally at Halloween.
Winnie Tsang, managing director of Golden Scene, has previously distributed and marketed Lau’s films when both worked for Golden Harvest.
She will also handle Teddy Chan’s “Dark October,” a $6.5 million action drama about bodyguards surrounding modern China’s founding father Sun Yat-sen. It stars Tony Leung Kar-fai (“Zhou Yu’s Train”), Eason Chan (“Demi-Haunted”) and Taiwan actor Chen Chang (“Chinese Odyssey 2002”). The film begins shooting in August in time for delivery next Easter.
