Ground was broken last week for a highly subsidized Vancouver Intl. Film Center to house the city’s growing film festival and to provide multimedia exhibition space, a 170-seat theater and editing and meeting rooms for B.C.-based filmmakers.

The three-story, 13,000-square-foot venue will be sandwiched between two residential towers to be built in the downtown core.
