‘Family’ joins Disney fold

Short Take

Disney has paid low- against mid-six figures in a preemptive bid to pick up the spec script “We Are Family” from screenwriter Sara Endsley to be produced by Storyline Entertainment and low six figures to acquire the spec script “Maid of Honor” for Mouse House-based production shingle Gunn Films to produce.

“Family” is an offbeat romantic comedy concerning a young woman, the black sheep of her family, who decides to kidnap a guy at gunpoint in order to attend her regular family Thanksgiving with the perfect date. Endsley is repped by Original Artists and managed by Octane Entertainment.

Brian Winfrey-penned “Honor” is a high-concept action-comedy focusing on a female James Bond-type FBI agent who goes back to her small hometown for her sister’s wedding when chaos ensues. Zach Tann of Zide/Perry found the project, which was part of a script magazine contest, and repped it and Winfrey for the deal.
