Scheuring-, Gudegast-penned thriller out to directors

DreamWorks Pictures has picked up FilmEngine action thriller “Wish You Were Here” as a starring vehicle for Josh Hartnett.

Penned by Paul Scheuring and Christian Gudegast, it tells the story of four friends who make an ill-fated attempt to smuggle their college chum’s royal fortune out of Morocco after his family is assassinated in a palace coup.

FilmEngine’s Anthony Rhulen and AJ Dix will produce with management-production venture Benderspink principals JC Spink and Chris Bender, alongside Hartnett, Scheuring and Gudegast.

Project is out to directors, with Hartnett starring pending approval of a helmer. DreamWorks production head Mike DeLuca is overseeing it’s development with Clair Rudnick Polstein for the studio.

Hartnett, who last appeared in ensemble drama Revolution Studios’ “Black Hawk Down,” next appears opposite Harrisson Ford in Ron Shelton’s “Hollywood Homicide,” another Revolution pic that’s due out this summer.

Hartnett is co-repped by both Iris Burton and the Endeavor percentery, and is managed by Nancy Kremer Management.
