‘Columbine’ bowls over docu B.O. record

Moore pic pushes 'Madonna' out with $1.4 mil

SYDNEY — Michael Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” has taken more than A$2.4 million ($1.4 million) at the Aussie box office, making it the highest-grossing documentary beating “In Bed With Madonna’s” $1.3 million.

Result is good news for new distribution shingle Hopscotch, which acquired “Bowling” at Cannes last year.

Hopscotch, a partnership between vet Frank Cox and ex-Dendy Films topper Troy Lum, last week inked with British production, distribution and sales company Pathe.

The deal will see the two companies attempt to develop Aussie features for local distribution by Hopscotch with international sales handed by Pathe.
