Sony unit had company-record year in 2002 with $1.3 bil

Mark Zucker, senior exec VP of Columbia TriStar Film Distributors Intl., will be honored as distrib of the year at Cinema Expo 2003.

Zucker will be feted at an awards gala set to close the trade show June 26. Cinema Expo begins June 23 at the RAI convention center in Amsterdam.

“To honor Mark in recognition of his tremendous achievements and success in distributing Columbia TriStar’s films internationally is truly an honor for Cinema Expo,” show spokesman Mitch Neuhauser said.

The Sony unit enjoyed a company-record year in 2002 with $1.3 billion in international box office.

A 28-year film industry veteran, Zucker has served in his current post since 2001; prior to that he was exec veep worldwide distribution for Columbia Pictures. Earlier, he was VP marketing and distribution at TriStar Pictures and was previously director of marketing finance at MGM/UA and marketing director at Paramount.
