Vet actor Norma Aleandro has signed on for the lead in helmer-scribe Eduardo Mignogna’s “Cleopatra,” a road movie about two women escaping the drudgery of marriage and job, a la “Thelma & Louise.”

Aleandro, who starred in Luis Puenzo’s Oscar-winning “La historia oficial” (The Official Story), was most recently featured in Juan Jose Campanella’s “The Son of the Bride,” which received a foreign-lingo Oscar nom last year.

Lensing begins March 3 on the $1 million-$1.2 million production, which is skedded for August release.

“Cleopatra” is a co-production of Patagonik Film Group, broadcaster Telefe and Spain’s Alquimia Cinema.
