Dutch actress honored by home crowd in Amsterdam

Famke Janssen, currently onscreen in 20th Century Fox’s “X2,” will be honored at Cinema Expo 2003 as international star of the year, organizers said Monday.

Janssen will be honored at an awards ceremony set for the closing night of the trade show June 26. Cinema Expo opens Monday at the RAI convention center in Amsterdam.

“It’s a great honor to be able to pay tribute to Famke Janssen, right on her native soil of the Netherlands, for the sheer enjoyment, thrills and delight she has brought moviegoers throughout her career,” said Mitch Neuhauser, group show director for Cinema Expo.

Janssen’s previous film credits include the 1995 James Bond pic “GoldenEye,” 2001 thriller “Don’t Say a Word” and Woody Allen’s 1998 laffer “Celebrity,” among others. The Dutch native has made her home in the U.S. for the past 12 years.
