Cinema Expo taps Arndt

Kudofest to close trade show

X Filme’s Stefan Arndt, producer of films including “Good Bye Lenin!” and “Run, Lola, Run!” has been named Cinema Expo 2003’s European producer of the year.

Jointly sponsored by European cinema booster Media Salles, the award will be presented to Arndt at a ceremony set for the closing night of the trade show on June 26. Cinema Expo gets under way June 23 at the RAI convention center in Amsterdam.

“We are honored to be able to pay tribute to such a prolific European filmmaker, who is responsible for producing some of the most memorable European films of our time,” said Mitch Neuhauser, group show director of Cinema Expo. “Mr. Arndt is such a prominent figure in the motion picture industry community, and it is only fitting that he is honored in Amsterdam by his peers.”

“Lenin” won eight awards including best picture in the recent German Film Awards. “Lola” launched X Filme into international prominence in 1998.
