Local company Golden Harvest and China Film Group have pacted to co-finance and distribute Chinese-language films.

The unnamed joint venture between the two companies, which have worked together for more than a decade, is expected to be up and running early next year and will have an office in Beijing.

Golden Harvest will distribute Chinese films through its extensive network in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia in hopes of expanding the market for Chinese productions overseas. The joint venture will also scout for financing for filmmakers in China.
