Creativity section attracts 100 int'l participants
BERLIN — European animators gathered in Erfurt from Thursday to Saturday for the latest Cartoon Masters meeting to look at the creative side of the business.
One of three Cartoon Master events to be held this year, Cartoon Creativity attracted 100 international animators, directors, producers and scriptwriters for practical workshops and presentations from industry professionals.
Animation director and storyboard artist Tom Sito (“Osmosis Jones”), DreamWorks animator Pat Sito (“The Road to El Dorado”), scriptwriter Barbara Slade (“Angelina Ballerina”), Sebastian Debertin, head of animation at German tyke channel KI.KA and Claude de Saint Vincent, prexy of France’s Dargaud Marina, were among 15 guest speakers at the confab. Topics ranged from adaptating existing works of literature to the importance of storyboard design and developing dialogue.
Upcoming Cartoon Masters include Cartoon Future, scheduled May 15 -17 in A Coruna, Spain, which focuses on the latest innovations in CGI animation, and Cartoon Finance, to be held in Cardiff, Wales, June 20-21, which examines financing.
