‘Boys’ spin Golden Reel

Honor goes to hockey laffer at Genies Feb 13

MONTREAL — Bigscreen French-lingo hockey comedy “Les Boys III” has nabbed the Golden Reel Award for top-grossing film of the year in Canada, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television announced Tuesday.

The award will be handed out at the Genies, the Canadian film awards, Feb. 13 in Toronto.

Both “Les Boys” in 1998 and “Les Boys II” in 1999 won Golden Reels. The third “Boys” pic grossed $3.4 million in Canada during the qualifying period of Oct. 21, 2001 through to Oct. 20, 2002.
