'Punisher,' 'Iron' to be included in deal

HOLLYWOOD — Artisan Pictures and Summit Entertainment have renewed their current international distribution agreement.

Summit will remain the exclusive distributor of Artisan Pictures’ theatrical releases in all territories outside of North America through 2005.

The first production to be represented by Summit will be “The Punisher,” the feature based on the Marvel Comics property. Starring Thomas Jane in the title role, pic is scheduled to arrive in theaters next summer.

Artisan is developing another Marvel vehicle, “Iron Fist,” to start filming this fall, as well as “Tonight He Comes,” with Michael Mann directing and Akiva Goldsman producing with Mann.

Artisan also is in principal photography on “Havana Nights: Dirty Dancing 2.” However, that Artisan/Miramax co-prod will not be part of the Summit agreement; Buena Vista Pictures will handle international distribution of the film.

Artisan Entertainment coordinates its business activities through Artisan Pictures and Artisan Home Entertainment.

Summit also maintains strategic partnerships with such companies as Walden Media, Intermedia, Escape Artists, Alcon Entertainment, Crusader Entertainment, Mandalay Pictures and Constantin Film.
