Par, DreamWorks to co-finance remake

Paramount and DreamWorks have agreed to co-finance the remake of “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” marking the fourth such partnership between the studios in recent months.

The pair reached similar pacts late last year on “Paycheck,” “Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events” and “Killing Pablo.” Both “Mitty” and “Lemony Snicket” are being developed as Jim Carrey vehicles, and DreamWorks principal Steven Spielberg is expected to direct “Mitty” (Daily Variety, March 14).

Par is one of the most avid practitioners of risk-sharing. The studios previously partnered on “Saving Private Ryan” and “Deep Impact.”
