David Manpearl has been promoted to VP of development for Wonderland Sound and Vision, the production shingle of “Charlie’s Angels” helmer McG and producing partner Stephanie Savage.
With its first-look feature deal at Columbia Pictures just renewed last month (Daily Variety, Sept. 4) and a television deal with Warner Bros. studios, Wonderland was most recently a producer on “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” and also produces “The OC” for Fox Broadcasting.
Manpearl joined Wonderland just over a year ago (Daily Variety, June 30, 2002). He’s since brought the pitch “Radiant” into the company, based on an original idea from Travis Wright and John Glenn (“The Warriors,” “Clash of the Titans”). Project — a mythical tale set in contemporary San Francisco — is now set up at Col.
In TV, Manpearl supported McG and Savage in the development and staffing of “The OC” last season and helped launch a put pilot at the WB this summer.
Calling him “our man in the streets,” McG said Manpearl’s mandate would be to look for new material and new talent for the banner.
Before joining Wonderland, Manpearl assisted Col co-prexy of production Matt Tolmach.
