Thesp joins Favreau-helmed pic

HOLLYWOOD — Owen Wilson is slated to star opposite Drew Barrymore in the comedy “Date School” for DreamWorks Pictures.

Project concerns an unlucky-at-love woman who turns to a dating instructor for help.

Jon Favreau is directing the pic; Red Hour Films’ Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfield are producing, along with Firm Films’ Beau Flynn. Nancy Juvonen, Barrymore’s partner at Flower Films, will also produce. Abby Cohn and Mark Silverstein penned the screenplay.

Wilson just wrapped “Starsky & Hutch” and “The Big Bounce” for Warner Bros. He is currently at work on Wes Anderson’s “The Life Aquatic” and “Wedding Crashers” at New Line.

Barrymore recently finished filming “Fifty First Kisses” for Columbia Pictures and is currently working on “A Confederacy of Dunces.” She is also slated to star in “The Science of Sleep.”

Favreau most recently directed the upcoming “Elf” for New Line and stars in Nancy Meyers’ “Something’s Gotta Give” for Col.

Wilson is repped by UTA, Barrymore and Favreau by Endeavor.
