Moses to head PR, Bario boosted in production
Universal Pictures has upped a pair of execs. Michael Moses will take the helm of U’s publicity department as exec VP, while production exec Holly Bario is getting a title bump to senior VP.
Moses’ move fills a gap in U’s corporate flow chart that has existed since former PR head Terry Curtin decamped to Revolution to head up its marketing operations.
Marketing co-prexy Eddie Egan said Moses has been tapped to provide “strategic leadership.” Moses will oversee strategy and execution of domestic publicity campaigns for all of U’s releases. He will also oversee senior publicity veeps Stephanie Kluft, Jeff Sakson and Greg Sucherman.
Moses joined U as a VP for national publicity in 2000 after ankling Buena Vista Pictures Marketing’s PR unit.
Elsewhere on the lot, Bario was upped on the eve of the release of two pics she oversaw and developed, Jim Carrey starrer “Bruce Almighty” and street racing sequel “2 Fast 2 Furious.”
Currently on her plate is the Kate Hudson gothic thriller “The Skeleton Key,” slated for a fall production, “Meet the Parents” sequel “Meet the Fockers” and a film adaptation of the 1960s Brit cult TV show “The Prisoner.”
Bario signed on with U in 1996 and was upped to production veep in 1999.
U co-prexys Mary Parent and Scott Stuber cited Bario’s “keen eye for untapped talent, acute sense of story and character and great bedside manner” in announcing the promotion.
