Glickman to shepherd pics
Jonathan Glickman has been promoted to president of Spyglass Entertainment and will also become a partner with Roger Birnbaum and Gary Barber, who remain co-chairmen and CEOs of the company.
In his new post, Glickman will continue to shepherd upcoming films on the Spyglass slate under shingle’s recently announced four year non-exclusive first look production and co-financing deal with Sony’s Columbia Pictures.
“Jon has been with us since the inception of Spyglass and has been integral to the successes of the company,” said Birnbaum and Glickman in a joint statement. “We look forward to expanding his role in all areas of the company including working closely with the marketing, distribution and international operations groups.”
Shingle just completed production on “Connie & Carla,” starring Nia Vardalos and Toni Collette for Universal and “Mr 3000” starring Bernie Mac and Angela Bassett for Disney.
Upcoming productions include an adaptation of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
First pic under their deal at Sony will be the romantic comedy “Four Christmases” to be directed by Adam Shankman. The family comedy “The Pacifier” is also earmarked for an early 2004 start.
Prior to Spyglass, Glickman first teamed up with Birnbaum in June 1993 to intern at Caravan Pictures. His previous production credits include “While You Were Sleeping,” “Rush Hour”, “Grosse Pointe Blank” and “Rush Hour 2.”
