Senator Intl. will handle foreign sales on the upcoming slate for Italo producer-distributor Eagle Pictures.
First two pix under the deal are “Lazarus Child” and “Genesis Code” both fully financed by a consortium of international partners — Eagle in Italy, Aurum in Spain, Hachette in France and Illusions in Canada with domestic distribution in the U.S. by Morgan Creek through Warner Bros.
Senator Intl. will handle rights for both pics in Australia, Asia, Scandinavia, Benelux, Eastern Europe, Greece, Portugal, Israel, Turkey, France and the Middle East.
Andy Garcia, Frances O’Connor and Angela Bassett are set to star in “Child,” which will start shooting in July.
Pic, based on Robert Mawson’s novel and adapted by Ron Bass, will be helmed by Graham Theakston. Pic is a thriller about a girl who goes into a coma after being hit by a bus. Her only hope for recovery comes from an eccentric researcher and the girl’s 12-year-old brother who agrees to be hooked up to travel into his sister’s mind.
Eagle Pictures’ Crio Dammico and Bruce Harvey will produce.
“Code,” based on John Case’s novel adapted by Ronald Shusett, Ian Rabin and Julian Mitchell, will be directed by Hugh Hudson. Pic, which is expected to start shooting in September, is the story of a private investigator whose family is viciously persecuted by an extremist religious order after visiting an Italian fertility clinic run by a doctor with some unusual ideas about DNA.
Dammico will produce with Billy Dietrich, Mike Mailer and Danny Bigel of Bigel/Mailer Films.
