Local distribbery Riofilme has tapped veteran TV and film thesp Jose Wilker as its new prexy.
Wilker replaces Arnaldo Carrilho, who has resigned due to health problems after two years in the post.
Riofilme is owned by the City of Rio de Janeiro, which created the company to distribute films made in Rio.
However, in recent years it has become the distributor of any Brazilian feature film that does not manage to snag a private-sector distrib.
According to Riofilme’s spokeswoman, the company will release 10 pics by the end of this year, including Murilo Salles’ “Que Sera Sera,” which was tapped for best film at the 2002 Rio Film Festival.
