PARIS — Roman Polanski will be jury president at Gaul’s Deauville Film Festival of American Film, which unspools Sept. 5-14.
The helmer takes the torch from ex-Canal Plus exec Pierre Lescure, who headed the 28th fest amid much brouhaha after he was fired from the Vivendi Universal subsid.
While this is the first time Polanski will have presided at Deauville, he headed the Cannes jury in 1991 when the Coen brothers’ film “Barton Fink” won the Palm d’Or. Polanski also headed the Venice Film Festival jury in 1996.
Deauville provide an overview of U.S. pics while honoring stand-out thesps, helmers and producers.
