Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences prexy Frank Pierson will deliver the commencement address Friday at the USC School of Cinema-Television.
Pierson was elected to head up AMPAS in 2000 following two terms as head of the Writers Guild of America.
The school also announced Monday that it will salute late cinematographer Conrad L. Hall with the Mary Pickford Foundation Alumni Award. Hall, a USC alum, was chosen because he “personified the spirit and legacy of Pickford, the Oscar-winning actress who co-founded United Artists.”
“Conrad Hall was, and will forever remain, an icon in the field of cinematography,” said Dean Elizabeth Daley. “His work continues to inspire our students regardless of their craft. He often said that his ‘love affair with cinematography’ began at USC, and the school is proud to pay tribute to incomparable artistic legacy.”
Ceremony will be held at the Shrine Auditorium.
